Wicked

We went to Melbourne today to the Regent Theatre to watch Wicked. It was a great performance and the kids had a terrific time.The actors had fantastic voices that filled the theatre ( The role of Elphaba was played by an American stand-in called Lillian Cooper  and she had a powerful voice and great stage presence) and the dialogue was surprisingly witty.

Last years grade 3 did a terms worth of work on The Wizard of Oz and the Marvellous Land of Oz so it was good for them to see a prequel. FL Baum wrote over 20 Oz books some of dubious quality ( too much vaudeville in some of his books) but I don't think he actually wrote a prequel.We have the book it is based on in the school's parent library.
