The Lost World

Click HERE to visit Teachers Pay Teachers and download my latest unit plan:
THE LOST WORLD by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Unlucky in love, but desperate to prove himself in an adventure, journalist Ed Malone is sent to test the infamous and hot-tempered Professor Challenger on his bizarre South American expedition findings – not least his sketches of a strange plateau and the monstrous creatures that appear to live there. With an assortment of believers and non-believers Challenger leads his party to a strange world that features prehistoric creatures and wild ape-men.

This classic science fiction adventure written by the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories is part of a literature unit for my grade 6 boy for term 4 including the classic tales of HG Wells and Jules Verne. (Refer last post)
The Lost World pre-dates Edgar Rice Burrough's 'Land That Time Forgot' by a few years and Michael Crichton's 'Lost World' by 80 years!
Term 4 starts in a few days and all is prepared at school for the first few weeks. The weather has been quite wet (typical of spring) but it was a pleasant sunny day today which will hopefully last for the first week back.
