Concert

Today the school was invited to Phoenix College ( The Former Sebastapol Secondary College) to listen to their intermediate band ( Primary students up to year 8) which includes one of our students. Zayda plays the clarinet and was fantastic.( some photos below)
They treated us to a 45 minute concert where they played as a band and solos but also talked about the varying instruments in the band.
Phoenix is being almost totally rebuilt and forms the centrepiece of a suburb renewal project which will include onsite health care and child care. It should be fantastic when it is completed in 2015.

The grade 6 students completed work on Great Expectations today. They wrote a newspaper story either about Miss Haversham's death or the convict's ( Magwitch) escape. They all have an orientation day at their secondary schools tomorrow so the rest of us might have a few treats and put up our Christmas tree. Get used to life without them around.

Grade 6 and 4 will use some new apps I've downloaded called 'Trading Cards' and Diamanté.              (Diamanté poems) to create a trading card and poem about their favourite Dicken's or Roald Dahl characters.( samples below)
