Another busy Saturday at school. I started reports and have them about 90% completed. Two more weeks for this term and then Christmas! After work I went into Ballarat (The Christmas rush has started) and bought some books for Santa to give the kids.
I was shocked and saddened to hear about the death of former Education Minister Lynne Kosky. Ms Kosky was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago.
Steve Bracks, a former Labor premier in the state, said Ms Kosky was with her family when she died at her Williamstown home on Wednesday night.
Ms Kosky held the portfolios of education, finance, public transport and arts throughout her career.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said he visited Ms Kosky before the Victorian election campaign began."Lynne was someone who made a very special contribution to our state," he said.
I met Ms Kosky a number of times when she was Education Minister. The first time was when she held an education forum in Ballarat for ALP members. I was the only principal there and had her undivided attention. the second time was when our Network met with her at our annual conference when we visited Melbourne and she was able to sneak away from parliament to meet with us. I found her approachable and open to small school issues.
