Nino Napoli, the disgraced former director of school resources for the Victorian Department of Education admits to being corrupt and that there are "lessons to be learnt" from his "ignorance and stupidity".
Mr Napoli is testifying to the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) hearing into the misuse of millions of dollars of school funds.
During his second day of questioning, Mr Napoli admitted he created false invoices for work not done.
Counsel assisting the commission Ian Hill QC said it was clear Mr Napoli had not only falsely invoiced the department, but also created the letterheads for the invoices.
Incredulously he is also claiming that banker school principals were ignorant of what was going on even though his dodgy invoices would come to them in plain envelopes.
