Anti- Vaxxers put on notice

Victorian Health Minister Ms Hennessy said the actions of anti- vaxxers who have been removing vaccination posters ( refer below) from hospitals put the lives of babies and children at risk.

'I’m horrified that these people spreading lies and mistruths about vaccination are now deliberately removing important immunisation information from our hospitals,' she said.

Condemnation of the behaviour of ant-vaxxers came as the Victorian government launched a new smartphone app, VaxOnTime, designed to remind parents when to have their children vaccinated.

It was launched on Sunday, ahead of Victoria's 'No Jab, No Play' law, coming into effect on January 1st 2016.

The law means all children must be vaccinated to be allowed to attend kindergarten or childcare.

Ms Hennessy said only a small minority of people deliberately avoided vaccinations, The Age reported.

Nationally, the vaccination rate was 92.6 percent.

When the number of vaccinated children aged five was at 95 percent, protection was provided to the whole population, according to The Age.

'Refusing to vaccinate your child not only endangers their health, but the health of every other child in our community,' Ms Hennessy said.
